Memoriapolisis a game where you create a civilization that stands the test of time. Starting from the Antiquity era, you progress through four ages. One engaging aspect is that rules shift with each era—for example, politics from the first age won’t work the same later. The cultural buildings you place attract factions, enhancing replayability.
But the game isn’t just about constructing buildings and managing resources; there are many crucial elements to master. Learning these can give you a strategic edge. If you’re ready, we’ve prepared some beginner tips to help you get started.
Memoriapolis is in early access and its content is subject to change.
Early City Planning Prevents Tensions
It’s crucialnot to build your structures randomly, as their type and attraction affect your city’s development. Every building belongs to a specific cultural type, and its attraction determines how districts will form around it. You’ll notice clusters of houses in certain areas due to attraction. Adistrict’s type is influenced by the buildingssurrounding it.
For example, if a district has many religious buildings and few military ones, it will adopt the dominant type.
Districts also determine which factions will settle there. If opposing factions end up next to each other, tensions may arise. To avoid this, it’s best toplace culturally different buildings far apart. For example, assign military buildings to the northern part of your city and political ones to the south to prevent conflicts.
Upgrade The Architectural Office First
The abundance of resources can seem overwhelming, but blueprints are the most critical. Without blueprints, you can’t unlock new buildings or upgrade existing ones. There’s only one building capable of producing blueprints—the Architectural Office. This makes developing it early a top priority toincrease your blueprint income per cycle.
Additionally, maintaining high Creativity satisfactionboosts blueprint production by 15 percent. Make sure to prioritize it to maximize your output.
Build Farms As Far Away As Possible
Food is one of the most important resources. If you run low, you’ll face severe consequences. The primary food production building is the Small Farm, but it doesn’t generate food directly—its fields do. When placing a farm, you select between 0 and 12 fields, andmore fields mean higher food production.
The downside is thatfields take up a lot of space.Building them near your city center will limit room for other structures, so the best strategy is toplace farms far from the city. Use a Surveyor’s Cabinto expand your buildable area andrelocate farms away from central zones.
Prioritize Satisfaction Levels Strategically
If you don’t meet your population’s satisfaction needs, negative effects will occur. Conversely, positive satisfaction brings benefits. Since it’s not always possible to meet every satisfaction level, prioritizing the most impactful ones is essential. Here’s what happens when specific satisfactions drop:
Negative Effect
Health
Increases food consumption and offers no bonuses to other satisfaction levels.
Increases incidents and reduces migration rates.
Decreases faction trust and faction tax rates.
Shortens decree durations and lowers resource production.
Creativity
Reduces blueprint production and culture point generation.
For example, if Health satisfaction drops, the bonuses from other satisfaction levels become unusable.Similarly, low Belonging can cause factions to block district borders, possiblyleading to a game over if too many factions become inaccessible.
Decide What To Do With Damaged Buildings
Advancing to a new era is inevitable, but it comes with challenges. You need to pick a new location for your new town center andall cultural buildings will become damaged, rendering them unusable. You’ll need to decide whether tospend resources on repairs or focus on constructing new cultural buildings.
Another option is toevolve your damaged buildings, provided you’ve unlocked the necessary blueprints. However, evolving buildings requires specific combinations, so planning ahead before moving to a new era is crucial.
Don’t Neglect Cultural Radiance
Increasing your Cultural Radiance unlocks various bonuses, but with so much going on, it’s easy to overlook. You can find the Cultural Radiance menu above the Building Tree button on the left side of the screen.Unlocking new buildings and constructing cultural and service structuresincreases your radiance, but that’s just the beginning.
Over time, factions in your districts generate culture points, which can be spent to raise your city’s influence level.Higher influence improves faction trustand reduces the blueprint costs for unlocking Wonders.
Manage Politics And Decrees Wisely
Politicsprovides useful temporary bonusesthrough decrees. You can select up to two decrees at a time, thoughstarting with a Politician leader gives you access to additional decrees. However, getting your chosen decree selected isn’t guaranteed unless you use corruption in the Antiquity era, which costs culture points but increases your chances of success.
You can also extend or shorten decree durations by spending gold coins. Trading resources is essential to maintain a steady coin supply.
Not All Starting Locations Are Equal
Choosing the right spot for your Town Center at the start can make or break your game. While wood resources are usually abundant, limited access to stone, sand, or clay can become a significant problem later.
Building near water and mountainsensures easier access to these essential resources, so carefully assess the terrain before settling. If you realize your starting location lacks key resources, it’s better to start a new game early rather than struggle later.
Use Trade Routes To Your Advantage
Once you unlock the Macellum building, you gain access to trade routes. Unlocking these routes earlyensures passive gold coin income. If you have surplus resources, sell them for coins to build up your savings. Coins act as a safety net during resource crises.
For example, instead of using valuable space for a second Small Farm, you can upgrade your existing one by purchasing needed resources through trade.Increasing faction taxes also raises coin income, but beware—reduced faction trust could block district borders, potentially leading to a game over.
Coins are alsonecessary for building Wonders, so stockpiling them is always a good idea.
How To Manage Workers
Your workers make up athird of your population.Even if you have enough resources, a lack of available workers can halt construction. If that happens, pausing non-essential buildings can free up workers.Click on a building, press pause, and its workers will become available for other tasks.
You canmonitor worker distribution through the Horreum building’s panel.Be careful, though—pausing critical buildings may trigger disastrous events.
Don’t Place Wonders Randomly
When your Town Center reaches its final level, you’ll eventually unlock Wonders. Each Wonder offers unique effects, so choose the ones that suit your needs. Since each Wondercan only be built onceand previous-era Wonders become unavailable after advancing, it’s important to plan carefully.
Wonders alsoexpand buildable areas within their radius.Placing them near the city center limits available space, soconsider building them further awayto maximize construction opportunities.
Cutting Camps Are More Than Wood Producers
In addition to producing wood, Cutting Campscreate space by clearing trees, allowing more buildings to be placed. If you have extra workers, build more camps and upgrade them to increase wood production.
Selling surplus wood generates gold coins, making it a profitable strategy. However, keep in mind that over-assigning workers to camps can disrupt other buildings, so pause them when necessary to free up workers.
