Summary

Star Wars Outlawshasn’t been selling exceptionally well according to multiple sources.

Christopher Dring ofGamesIndustry.bizreports lower-than-expected physical salesof Star Wars Outlaws in the United Kingdom, 55 per cent lower than what Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sold during its launch period.

Outlaws has sold 15 per cent better than Massive Entertainment’s previous releaseAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but it’s safe to say that expectations were a lot higher for Star Wars Outlaws. Also, Frontiers of Pandora didn’t have a particularly good launch period.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandoradebuted at number 5 on the same chart, behind EA Sports FC 24, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Hogwarts Legacy and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Dringlater clarifiedthat the physical numbers are incomplete, and so should be taken with a grain of salt. The digital sales data released at the end of the week will paint a much clearer picture of how well Star Wars Outlaws has performed.

Ubisoft Investors Aren’t Pleased

Another interesting facet of the story appears when we look at Ubisoft’s stock price. Ubisoft’s stock price has decreased over 10 per cent in the past 5 days, bringing it to a ten-year low of €15.50 ($17.11) on the Paris Stock Exchange. Ubisoft’s market cap sits at just under €2 billion ($2.2 billion).

Asreported by consultant Dr Serkan Toto, this could be because investors are displeased with the sales figures of Ubisoft’s most recent big release, Star Wars Outlaws. Once again, we won’t know for sure until digital sales become public, but investors dumping Ubisoft doesn’t look promising.

Star Wars Outlaws has received generally positive reviews, holding a76 score on OpenCritic. Our own Jade King said Outlaws “had a lacklustre story, a bizarre lack of polish for a production of this scale, and a main character that isn’t the step forward should have been,” in their3.5/5 review.
