Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2throws hundreds of Tyranid and Chaos forces against the Astartes. These heretical enemies of the Imperium must be stopped at all costs. Most misions in Space Marine 2 throw you against one of the two factions, but in the Vox Liberatis Operation, you’ll need to fight both enemy types at once.
There’s only so much heresy a planet can take, but thanks to the Astartes, you’ll be responsible for single-handedly clearing out the Imperium city of the alien, the mutant, and the heretic. It’s a fairly easy mission if you bring the right gear, so let’s cover that first.
Tyranids and Chaos
Recommended Classes
Heavy, Bulwark, Vanguard
This is currently the only Operation in Space Marine 2 where you fightTyranidsandChaosat the same time. Tyranids make up the bulk of the opening section, while Chaos start to appear towards the second half of the mission. You’ll wanta healthy mix of add management and ranged DPSin your squad to counter both factions.
Not many classes can do that better thanHeavy. Throw on a multi-meltaMulti-Melta, use aPlasma Pistolfor the Rubric Marines, and you’ll cut through enemies like a hot knife through butter.Bulwarkis also a great pick here. Many of the combat encounters against Chaos are in enclosed spaces, making the Bulwark’s shield and class ability rather useful. The final slot should be either aVanguardor aSniperto deal with high-value targets.
Locate The Source Of The Jamming
Lieutenant Titus has sent your squad into the depths of an Imperial city to look for any sort of vox jammer. You’ll start the mission right outside a warehouse swarming with Tyranids.Multiple Warriors will be waiting at the loading bay outside.Have your Heavy melt the Warriors from a distancewhile the Bulwark draws their attention. Clear them out before entering the adjacent building.
Use the elevator in this structure to gain aVantage Pointof the battle below. It appears that Chaos are projecting some kind of forcefield in the area, blocking all communications.Continue to fight the Tyranids as you move towards the lower structure. An Extremis-tier enemywill spawn around this point, usually a Ravaner or Lictor. Stay close to your team and scavenge for ammo.
Find A Way To Take Down The Warp Shielding
Inside the small temple of worship will be a hereticalChaos Altarprojecting a force field in your path. These shrines work identically to those seen in the campaign. You muststand near the altar to remove the brambles, then destroy the eye powering the device. You only need one person standing near the shrine to make progress here. The other players should keep the Thousand Sons off the shrine player.
An ammo cache is right next to the shrine. Stock up on ammo before you leave.
Capture And Destroy The Chaos Altars
The previous encounter more or less repeats for the rest of the mission. You’ll need tocapture another altar in the courtyard outside.Tons of Tzaangors will be guarding this area, and a Terminus-tier enemy might spawn during this part. Stock up on ammo, cleanse the shrine, then use the nearby elevator to continue.
Once you’re off the elevator, you’ll be caught in a massive battle between the Tyranids and Chaos forces.Focus on the Rubric Marines first, as the Tyranids will draw their attention during the start of this encounter. A Sniper or Vanguard should be able to clear the Chaos forces with ease. The Bulwark should then draw the attention of the Tyranids. Carve a path through the battlefield to reach yet another elevator, this one being much larger than the previous two.
Navigate The Lower Levels Of The Cathedral
Stick together for this part. Shoot any Traitor Guardsmen snipers you see.
This part is arguably the hardest section in this Operation. You mustride the elevator down multiple floorswhile fighting waves of Chaos forces. Rubric Marines andTzaangorswill spawn on the elevator itself, while Guardsmen snipers will appear on the floors above you. If you see a blue line aimed towards your Astartes, dodge.
Coordination is required here on higher difficulties. All three players should focus on each pack that spawns. One player focuses on the Rubric Marine(s), while the other two clear out the Tzaangors with melee weapons and grenades. If any Tzaangors are wielding shields, use a melee heavy attack to break their guard.
If you don’t kill the enemies fast enough, the elevator will eventually stall and require a restart.Exit the elevator and activate the marked terminal on your HUD to restart it.You sometimes need to activate two terminals before you can leave. While it might be tempting, donotsplit up here. Tons of Rubric Marines will patrol the floor your elevator stopped at. Take it slow; you aren’t timed.
Banish The Daemonhost
At the base of the cathedral is none other than a Thousand Sons daemonhost and a small army of Chaos units. The Daemonhost is protected by four Chaos Altars in the vicinity.Your team must stand next to each altar and destroy them, one at a time. Enemies will continuously spawn next to you during this part, so stick together.
Beyond the usual Rubric Marines and Tzaangors, thechained daemon will also launch projectiles towards you.A Bulwark can simply block these projectiles with their shield, and the Heavy’sIron Haloability can block most of the damage. Your third player should ideally be outside of the capture radius, fighting the Chaos reinforcements instead. Destroy all four altars to finish the mission.
