Summary
Most of the news following the release ofWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2has been positive. The title has already had thehighest concurrent player count in series history, propelling it into thetop ten Steam launches of 2024. There have been some minorcomplaints about weapon balancingand also acouple of niggling bugs, but overall, sentiment around the game is high.
However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows over on the Battle Barge. A week since launch, the game has already been facing a pretty frustrating cheater problem.
Space Marine 2 Cheaters Are Real
Over on the officialSpace Marine Subreddit, there have beenmultiple reports of cheatersinWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
Most commonly, players are running up against an infinite grenade cheat, which sees the opposition lobbing a constant flurry of explosives as they traverse the map. And, while the issue is frustrating in PVP, players are also ruining Space Marine 2’s PVE modes by replicating the cheat there.
The issues aren’t limited to the unlimited grenades, either. Players have reportedly beenshot through walls, faced lag-switching, and beenone-shot killed with the bolt pistolmultiple times.
Unfortunately, players were quick to point out that the game lacks a ‘report’ feature, which means it’s likely harder for the developers to detect these cheaters. However, it seems like a pretty widespread issue, and with multiple complaints surfacing on social media, it’s hard to imagine that the team is unaware.
Despite some issues, we scoredWarhammer40,000: Space Marine 2 a 3.5/5 inour official review, saying that it “Embodies the ultimate power fantasy of being a Space Marine,” although we felt it does suffer from a threadbare plot with gameplay that is too linear.
