Summary

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2players have been in a bit of an uproar over the last few days, mostly down to a series of unpopular nerfs included in Patch 4.0 that was released last week. Tempers have been rising since that day, with players beginning tovent their frustrations about nerfs and annoying enemies like Zoanthropeson social media, while somebombarded the game’s Steam page with negative reviews.

Thankfully, it seems all the noise and drama were enough to get developer Saber Interactive’s attention, which has now announced that an emergency patch will be released this Thursday in an effort to address some of the recent complaints. Space Marine 2 director Dmitriy Grigorenko announced the arrival of this updatevia some patch notes on the Space Marine subreddit, along with a lengthy statement thanking fans for the feedback.

Grigorenko also took this opportunity to announce that Space Marine 2 will get public test servers in the near future, most likely in an effort to prevent major upsets like the one that has occurred over the last few days from happening at all. He claims that these servers will allow players to “try out major balancing updates and make your voices heard” before they go public, and that they’ll be introduced at some point in early 2025.

Space Marine 2 Is Nerfing Zoanthropes And Buffing Bolt Weapons

As for the update itself, Saber appears to have addressed quite a lot of fan feedback that’s been going around since launch. In the update’s patch notes, Saber reveals that the dramatic difficulty shift in the game - even on the lower levels - was a result of increased Extremis spawn rates that tried to reduce the win rate of higher difficulties, which had spiked after Patch 3.0.

Unfortunately, that change was also reducing the win rate for lower difficulties too, so the change is being walked back. Adding to this, Saber also recognized that fighting Zoanthropes is “a source of frustration” for fans at the moment, and has increased the cooldown of their shield swaps with other Zoanthropes by 10 percent.

Another change that will likely go down very well with fans is several buffs to Bolt weaponry. Ever since Space Marine 2’s release, one of the biggest complaints is thatweapons such as the Bolt Rifle felt severely underpoweredcompared to other weaponry in the game, and that they needed to be buffed to make them viable. With this patch, Saber is doing just that, as pretty much every Bolt weapon in the game is getting a significant damage increase.

Various other changes will be made too, such as a bug affecting the i-frames on rolls, something that was also recently complained about following update 4.0. With these changes, Saber appears to have taken a big step towards getting fans back on board, and here’s hoping we get those public test servers sooner rather than later.
