Summary

John Blanche is a name known the world over in theWarhammerspace. The artist has been pivotal in the creation of some of Games Workshop’s most important series.

Now retired, Blanche has taken on a range of projects of his own design, includinga recent Kickstarterfor a range of Grimdark femme miniaturesthat raised over £68,000.

While his personal Kickstarter was an overwhelming success, Blanche is also lending his hand to help create a new “heretical skirmish wargame” alongside fellow Mordheim creator Tuomas Pirinen and Diablo designer Mike Franchina.

Trench Crusade Kickstarter To Launch In October

Officially created by Franchina and Pirinen,Trench Crusadeis described as “an action-packed skirmish wargame set in a horrifying alternate timeline, where the forces of Heaven and Hell vie for the fate of all Creation. This is not just a fight for survival, but a cataclysmic struggle that will decide the very fate of humanity’s soul.”

However, while not part of the game’s design, Blanche, alongside an all-star team of artists, including Dave Gallagher, Des Hanley, and Paul Bonner, is working on art for the lore and rule book. The game’s miniatures will also be designed by a group of famous creators, comprising James Sherriff, Saint Decent, Wilph, Joake RevillaMartin, Chris Cleve, Akshay Kumar, and others.

Played on 3x3 and 4x4 tables, players of Trench Crusade will begin their campaigns with ten troopers, ending with around 25. The team confirms the game is intended for mature audiences and will feature the following factions: the Principality of New Antioch, the Heretic Legion, the Sultanate of the Iron Wall, Cult of the Black Grail, and the Trench Pilgrims.

With theKickstarterwindow now confirmed for October, the Trench Crusade team has confirmed there will be a new video detailing the full crowdfunding campaign to follow, but at first glance alone, this looks like a ‘must-back’ for any wargame enthusiasts.
