Different Deviants that you can capture offer a variety of abilities that will help you in battle, crafting, or other tasks.
Deviants that can be brought into battle using your Cradle are called Combat Deviants. Their powers can assist you in battle by dealing damage, deflecting bullets, healing, and more. With the varying abilities that each Combat Deviant can bring to the table, there are those that are particularly excellent companions.
1Zeno-Purifier
Bro Brought A Sword To A Gunfight
If you love the idea of hacking and slashing at your enemies samurai-style, theZeno-Purifieris the perfect companion for you. This is a powerful Deviant that can teleport to an enemy’s location and deal slashing attacks to them.
It has a very simple combat style, but it’s incredibly entertaining to watch. Not to mention that it can deal with enemies quickly without you having to target them yourself manually. It’s also an easy Deviant to obtain because you canget it as a reward for completing a Season Goal.
2Mini Wonder
Dodging Bullets Like It’s The Matrix
TheMini Wonderis truly a wonderful companion, especially if you are visiting settlements filled with thugs or soldiers armed with guns. This Deviant possesses the ability to absorb all bullets coming at you within a certain radius providing the perfect defense when you’re surrounded.
Because this Deviant is pretty useless against other attacks, only bring this Deviant along if you are going against guns.
Another ability that the Mini Wonder has is that it can buff targeted allies. To do so, you will need to select the Designated Target option and select an ally to buff. Despite its limited set of skills, its specialization makes it a top choice for gunfights.
3Butterfly’s Emissary
Pretty Or Deadly? It’s Both: Pretty Deadly
The very first Deviant you get is actually one of the best companions in combat. TheButterfly’s Emissarycan rush at enemies from far away to deal massive damage, but the most useful ability it has is its power to mark weakspots.
When a weakspot is marked by the Butterfly Emissary, attacks dealt in that area will be amplified. Given that weakspot damage is already pretty deadly, increasing this will have you tearing down bosses in a flash. This makes this Deviant perfect to bring to boss fights and battles against elites.

If you like wacky tentacle attacks or if you’re running a Bounce build, theMini Feastermakes a great companion. This Deviant thatyou can obtain from Mist Eventsaround the region can bring a lot to the table when it comes to battles.
This little guy can mark enemies for you, amplifying your own damage. In addition, it can summon tentacles that can target multiple enemies. Triggering Bounce will also summon tentacles with the Mini Feaster. The best part is that your weapon damage increases by 17 percent for every tentacle on the field!
5Voodoo Doll
Do Unto Others What They Do Unto You
If you’re looking for a Deviant with both defense and attacking abilities, theVoodoo Dollis a good choice. When going for a Designated Target, it can do different things: targeting an enemy will have it absorb part of the damage you take and targeting an ally will have the Deviant absorb the damage your ally takes.
Using Doppleganger will have the Deviant continuously take on half of the damage that you receive. This is especially life-saving for fights against bosses that have attacks that can deal massive damage in a single hit.
6Polar Jelly
Attacks Are Best Served Cold
ThePolar Jellyis perfect for dealing with waves of enemies and it works best if you’re running a Frost Vortex build. With Frostlash, it can knock back enemies and keep them away from you. With its Auto Attack, it deals Frost damage to surrounding enemies and they will get pulled towards you.
The Polar Jelly’s ability to draw enemies closer makes it perfect if you want crowd control capabilities.
The increased Frost damage it applies to surrounding targets makes it essential for Frost Vortex build users. In addition, triggering a Frost Vortex will have the Polar Jelly create additional Ice Spikes that deal more damage.
7Festering Gel
The Only Gel You Need For Your Wounds
One of the best Combat Deviants that you can have with you in any type of battle is theFestering Gel. This cute blob is purely a support Deviant that can provide both defense and restoration.
Flawless Fortification can be thrown at an area to knock enemies back. Build Fortification creates a shelter for you that you may get behind. All attacks will be blocked by the shelter and you and your allies will experience both healing and sanity recovery while you’re within its range.
8Lonewolf’s Whisper
Release The Hounds
The ultimate combat companion would have to be theLonewolf’s Whisper. This Deviant will attack targets and attract nearby enemies so that their attention is not drawn to you. You can even select a target for it to launch a focused attack on. A great bonus is that it also increases weapon damage on its target.
The best part about this Deviant is its ability to clone itself. When its target dies, it creates a copy of itself and it can create up to two copies that will wreak havoc on your enemies.
