An informational panel about Winterhome.

Winterhome In Frostpunk

In the first Frostpunk game,Winterhome appears as a scenario to play, called ‘The Fall of Winterhome’.As expected, this documents the fall of the city, starting with your appointment as the new leader. Timewise, this scenario happens before ‘A New Home’,which is the main story.

Within this scenario, Winterhome is already experiencing some turmoil. Rather than building the city up from nothing, you’ll have to fix what is already there. Your efforts prove to be fruitless though, asWinterhome’s Generator will inevitably explode and kill everyone.

It seems that the Generator in Winterhome was faulty from the start;there was ultimately no way to avoid the fall of the city.In the second game, you’ll be able to read a detailed description of what happened here while hovering over theRuins of Winterhome location.

By playing the scenario fully, we also learn that a group of survivors left the city, while a group also stayed behind (not by choice). By remaining in Winterhome, they eventually die.

This can be observed in ‘A New Home’; by exploring Winterhome, you’ll witness an exploded Generator and dead bodies everywhere. Also in ‘A New Home’, you’ll be able to find a group ofsurvivors from Winterhome.

Winterhome In Frostpunk 2

Frostpunk 2 is set 30 years after the first game; in this sequel,Winterhome is in ruin.By playing through the main campaign though, you’lleventually be led to the Winterhome ruins. From New London, this can be found to the east in the Cursed Valley.

Here, you will need to make a decision;salvage or settle in Winterhome. If you choose to salvage the city, then you’lllead it to its permanent death. After salvaging the remains of the city, it will beabandoned and you won’t be able to build anymore.

If, on the other hand, you choose to settle in Winterhome, thenit will become a colony for you to manage.Whatever you choose, it will directly impact the rest of the game.
