Mobile games can include a lot of different currencies and resources, andPokemon TCG Pocketis no exception. One of those upgrades is an item called Shinedust, which will appear in your inventory almost without you noticing it.

Shinedust doesn’t have any impact on gameplay, so you’re likely to accumulate a fair amount before you even notice it. But as your collection grows, you’ll soon discover that it’s a valuable resource for adding new cosmetic effects to your favorite cards. Here’s what it is, how to get it, and how to use it to enhance your favorite Pokemon.

What Is Shinedust?

Shinedust isa resource that you’ll slowly accumulate as your collection grows, which you can use to enhance your cards. When you first start the game you won’t acquire much Shinedust except by completing Missions, but as your collection grows you’ll earn more and more.

How To Get Shinedust

Early on you’ll receive most of your Shinedust from completing missions and achievements, butthe main way to get more is by getting duplicates of cardsalready in your collection.

Each time you open (or buy) another copy of a card you already own, you’ll also get a little Shinedust. It isn’t much, but it does mean you get somevalue out of the extra six copies of Spearow you openedlooking for a Moltres ex.

In addition to cards, players receive Pack Points, Experience, and Shinedust for opening packs.

You can earn extra Shinedust by purchasing additional copies of the promo Trainer cards in the shop, butthis is a poor use of your Shop Tickets, which can also be used to buy Hourglasses.

How To Use Shinedust

Shinedust can be used toadd flair to your Pokemon. This flair is similar to the stickers and ball capsules from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, in that both create a cosmetic effect when the Pokemon they’re applied to come into play.

Once you have enough copies of a card, you cantrade one to three copies of it along with some Shinedust in order to get a Sparkles: Gold flair, which you can then apply to one of the remaining copies of the card.

Three copies of Bulbasaur and 50 Shinedust earns you the Sparkles: Gold flair.

When you redeem cards and Shinedust for flair, you must have two copies of the card remaining. Pokemon TCG Pocket will not allow you to go below a playset by making flairs.

Once you’ve unlocked the Sparkles: Gold flair for a card, other, more expensive flairs will become available.Which flairs are available is dependent on the card: some Fire-type Pokemon will get Flames: Orange flair, while some Water-Type Pokemon will get Ripples: Light Blue flair.

The higher the rarity of the card, the more Shinedust you needto create flair. However, the number of copies of that card decreases.
