Sonic X Shadow Generationsbrings the Blue Blur back to our gaming screens with a remaster of a pseudo-remake of his most classic levels. This time, Shadow has his own adventure grafted on that feels exceedingly fresh when compared to Sonic’s outings.
For better or worse, the Sonic side of this package is left untouched. And when it comes to the memories of Sonic 06 awoken by Crisis City, maybe it is for the worse. Regardless, a few new colelctibles exist here now, so let’s find them all.
How To Get An S Rank In Crisis City
Like the game is comes from, Crisis City can be a bit of a struggle. All the colours are the same, enemies seem to have quite imprecise hitboxes, and the lava is just everywhere. One wrong step or ill-timed Homing Attack will be your end.Read our tips on getting an S Rankto get prepped.
Crisis City Act 1 S Rank
Classic Sonic hasa few unique stage hazardsto deal with in Act 1 to account for his slower speed, though you’ll still want to keep up speed where you can.
Right as the level begins, try to build as much speed as you can. The final highway will start collapsing, sojump as soon as you see it leaning downto reach the Dash Rings above. Spin Dash once you enter the higher area to reach even higher.
After passing the next checkpoint, bounce off the three flying enemies to continue on the high route. You will reach a bent piece of rebar that Sonic will start sliding down. Justkeep jumping upwards to go forward.
When you get to the rotating building, try torun along the collapsible platforms and bounce along the enemiesthat line the wall to speed to the end of this section faster.
When you get to the interior section with flying enemies and platforms that move up and down, take the rightmost platform upwards to reach a higher routeand some Speed Shoes. When you get to the next section after the fiery worm enemy, time your jumps well. Bounce across the thin pieces of rubble and the flying enemies to get to a higher route.
In the exterior sections with the moving rubble, mind your step. These can often overlap with each otherand cause you to fall between the cracks without even seeing.
As you approach the goal, it will start moving away from you so cruelly. You must chase after it, thoughbe mindful of the winds that are blowingas they can both slow you down and speed you up.
Don’t pass through the area when the firestorm is raging in the center. Touching it at all is an instant defeat, and disqualifies you from an S Rank.
There are no particularly faster routes here, just be careful with the storm.Jumps you think you can reach might need more of a run-upnow. Try not to take any chances.
Completing with atime under 3:50 with a score of 50,000will get you the A Rank, and a Perfect Clear will turn it into an S Rank.
Crisis City Act 2 S Rank
Act 2 for Sonic isjust like how it was in Sonic 06, though thankfully Sonic has considerably better controls than he did back then. Not perfect, but enough to complete the level.
After passing the initial Trick Ramp, take the left route. It is more dangerous, but cuts a few seconds off your time. Carefully jump along the platforms and rubble after the handle to more quickly reach the highway.
When you reach the next large lava section, attempt to reach the Dash Rings in the center. This requires navigating some platforms that will collapse almost as soon as you touch them, though will get you to a higher route quickly.Use your Homing Attack on the flying enemieswhen they are near the flying platforms to reach them.
When you pass the exploding buildings after taking the spring upwards, you can try touse your Homing Attack before landing to reach a higher route. The enemy here has a tendency to attack faster than you can react though, so be prepared to be knocked back down again.
After crashing through a wall of boxes on landing on some collapsible platforms, follow them upwards to skip much of the following section. You will be brought to another set of collapsible platforms. Boosting across them.
When on the final highway, use side-stepping to avoid the ruined carsand other debris being thrown your way, and try to move up the hill on the right to reach a Speed Ramp that will get you to the goal even faster.
Act 2 is now complete, and atime under 3:00 minutes and a score of 50,000will get you an A rank, with a Perfect Clear boosting it up to an S rank.
