How To Get An S Rank In Sunset Heights

Sunset Heights pays homage to one of Sonic’s most recent entries, Sonic Forces, but lets Shadow take the helm instead. This area hasquite a few optional routesthat are pretty timely to achieve, so we’ll be telling you exactly what to look out for to get that S Rank.

Sunset Heights Act 1 S Rank

Act 1 of Sunset Heights is an exclusively 3D experience. You need a lot oftactical usage of Chaos Control here, so here are some tips we’d recommend.

A new enemy introduced in this level look likelittle tanks that fire shells. With Chaos Control, you can stop time tomake those shells in Homing Attack projectilesthat can easily let you reach higher. The same is true of the early Death Egg Robot throwing boulders.

When you reach the sewer sections, make sure to keep the button for Doom Spears held down. This will let you easily lock-on to the monsters chasing you, andleave them open to a Doom Blast attackto bring you to higher routes much easier.

There is a brief interlude into a Radical Highway section that plays quite differently. While in the tunnels, you’ll want toloop around as much as possible while boosting to avoid the harmful terrain. While you can jump over the spiked balls in the first few tunnels, you’ll need to loop to avoid damage in the final one.

Following this, you can speed right for the goal. Make sure to use Chaos Control as often as possible asit freezes the in-game timer as well, saving you precious seconds.

Beating Act 1 with ascore of 40,000 and a time under 4:30 minutesshould net you an A Rank, with a Perfect Clear boosting it up to an S Rank.

Sunset Heights Act 2 S Rank

Act 2 of Sunset Heights is anexclusively side-scrolling affairwith a liberal use of Doom Surf to get you to its highest routes. Here’s what you should do to get that coveted S Rank.

There are parts of this mission that require the use of Doom Spears, primarily spring traps. Make sure to be conscious of your surroundings so youdon’t accidentally run into them, and keep the Doom Spears at the ready so you don’t have to stop to activate the springs.

Almost every instance in this Act where you are surfing willrequire you to jump to reach a higher route. This usually occurs at the end of a slope, so be prepared to leap.

While wandering on platforms, the Death Egg Robot in the background will begin aiming at them, eventually destroying them. If you’re fast enough, this shouldn’t be an issue. However, don’t be afraid to use Chaos Controlto freeze them to give you some more breathing room.

In certain parts of the mission, such as after the first and second Death Egg Robot encounters, a string of small, robotic hornets will appear. Use a Homing Attack on them tofollow them along like a Lightspeed Dash. These will always bring you to higher routes.

While in the higher routes of the sewer section, there will be multiple massive pipes spewing water.Getting hit by these will knock you onto a lower route, so avoid them at all costs. Using Chaos Control is a great method here.

Chaos Control fills as Shadow defeats enemies, so fight every enemy you see to keep it charged.

Right by the very end of the stage, make sure touse Chaos Control just before the Death Egg Robot attacks, as they will destroy the higher route if you don’t.

Completing the Act with a timeunder 3:00 minutes and a score of at least 40,000will earn you an A Rank. Get a Perfect Clear to be upgraded to an S rank.
