In real life, peat and sod are pretty common – and pretty important – for farming and a lot of other things, and it’s the same inFields of Mistria. Both of them have a variety of uses, such as being asked for in requests and different crafting recipes like for the Campfire or Potted Plant.

Unlike Clay and some other materials, you can’t buy either of them from the General Store or Landen and Ryis' Carpentry Shop. If you want to get either of these materials to make decorations or something else, you’ll have to get your Shovel and Pickaxe ready and do a bit of exploring.

How To Get Peat And Sod

Before you can find Peat and Sod, you’ll first need toget yourself any kind of shovel or pickaxe: theWorn Shovelcan be purchased from theGeneral Store for 500 Tesserae, while theWorn Pickaxeisgivento you by Olric during one of theintroductory missions,Do A Bro A Favor.

Youdon’t need an upgraded tool to find Peat or Sod, as the upgrades only increase the amount of tiles you can hit at once, not the types of items dropped.

Next, you’ll need tosearch for raised moundsin the grass around Mistria, and these canappear in random spotsin any locationexcept forthetown square and your farm, such as The Narrows or The Eastern Road. Use either theShovel or the Pickaxe to digup these spots, and each one will have achance to drop Sod or Peat, thoughyoumay getClayor an Artifact instead.

It’s also possible tofind both Sod and Peatwhen you’rein the Mines, both fromdigging up cracked or raised moundsin the ground there, and there’s aslight chancefor them to drop whenbreaking any of the smaller rocksinside.

You can invest in theUnpeatable skill in the Archaeology Skill Treeto give yourself a chance to getdouble the Peat or Sod when digging.

Thearcheology siteslike The Western Ruins have anincreased number of raised moundsand still give you a chance to get Sod or Peat from them, especially once youunlock moreof them with theScholar-type archaeology Skills. The only downside to them is they have anincreased chance of finding artifacts, so you’re morelikely to not get what you wantfrom them compared to the random ones or the Mines.
