Ubisoftis one of the biggest games developer and publisher in the world. It’s actually somewhat unprecedented just how large it is as a single umbrella company. Over 19,000 employees at the time of writing and countless studios across the entire world. And like anything that gets too big with poor management, it could very easily implode.
With the vast scale of Ubisoft’s operations, it’s not surprise that it has both published and developed a frankly upsetting amount of games, more than any one company would ever be expected to create even at its size. So without further ado, lets delve into how many games Ubisoft has created.
This article focuses squarely ongames developed by Ubisoft, rather than just published by them.
Which Console Has The Most Ubisoft Games?
Ubisoft was founded in 1986by the Guillemot brothers, of which Yves Guillemot still remains. On the very first year of its founding, Ubisoft (then known as Ubi Soft, with a space to represent ‘Ubiquitous Software’) developed and published multiple games, getting the business running at large immediately.
Over the years, Ubisoft only grew in scale until it became the company it is today. Having existed for the run of almostevery console generation since their inception, Ubisoft has released plenty of games on every console there is. So which has the very most?
That would be, by a fairly decent margin, the Nintendo DS with around 140 games. The Xbox 360 pulls in close behind, withabout 130. The PS3 and PS2 both come in third place with around100-odd gameseach, the PS3 slightly edging it out. For the PS4 and Xbox One, the number of games released is fairly similar.
Which Ubisoft Series Has The Most Games?
WhileUbisoft is incredibly prolific in terms of its games portfolio, it has tightened in recent years to focus more on pre-established series. Ubisoft has quite a few of them, though even still it only focuses on a select few of them, Assassin’s Creed chief among them. But that’s not the winner of this competition either.
That award goes to Tom Clancy. And while yes, Tom Clancy is more a header for a greater number of subseries that spawn from it, they do all still form a single brand of games, based on the works of Tom Clancy. As such, it is a single series for the sake of this argument.
And how many games is that exactly? Well, there are quite a few so some games have have been missed, thoughthe number stands at approximately 80. That includes Ghost Recon, Hawx, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six and others. There are a few games under that heading, but altogether they make the biggest set of games Ubisoft has made under a single series.
How Many Games Has Ubisoft Made In Total?
This all leads us to the most staggering question, with an equally staggering answer. Just how many games has Ubisoft made themselves? With how many they have published, the numbers can get a bit muddied. When they have multiple studios working on a single game, that complicates the numbers a bit more too. We can still derive an approximate number though.
Andthat number is 530, thereabouts. From 1986 to now, an almost 40 year period, they have made that many games. That’sabout 132 games every decade, or 13 games a year. One game every single monthfrom the moment Ubisoft was founded. That is, indeed, a lot.
