The universe ofWarhammer 40,000is full of interesting characters of all types. Vengeful aliens, power-hungry inquisitors, and of course, the dark forces of chaos are just some of the creatures you’ll come across in the various games, books, and shows.

A somewhat new name to the world of 40k, but one that has enthralled fans, new and old alike, is Demetrian Titus. He is the protagonist of theWarhammer 40,000 Space Marineseries of video games, but who exactly is this powerful figure in the lore?

Who Is Demetrian Titus?

Demetrian Titus is a space marine(or adeptus astartes as they are sometimes known)ofthe Ultramarines chapter.He has risen the ranks to that of captain of the legion, but his service for the Imperium of Man is somewhat more complex than some.

Throughout his career in combat,he has fought tyranids, orks, and the forces of chaos(including chaos space marines and daemons themselves), although it is entirely possible he has experienced even more enemies than that.

He is armed witha set of power armor that protects himand also furthers his superhuman agility and strength. He is also outfitted with various weapons like chainswords, bolters, and plasma weapons to name a few.

What Are His Goals?

Like any loyalist space marine,he is made only for war.He travels with the rest of his legion,fighting off anyone or anything that stands in the Imperium of Man’s way.This includes various alien races and the corrupting forces of chaos.

They are only there tofight in the battles of the Imperium, and they do so until death, something that usually happens in the heat of combat and after many hundreds of years.

What Happened In Space Marine 1?

During the first Space Marine game, Demetrian Titus is introduced as a space marine of around 200 years old (relatively young in comparison to some astartes). He and a small retinue of Ultramarines aresent to Graia to stop an ork invasion.

Graia is animportant forge-world of the adeptus mechanicus who deals with the inventions and machines of the Imperium.There, not only does Titus have to deal with the orks,but also Leandros, a member of his squad who doesn’t care for Titus' impromptu methods.

There, theyuncover a Mechanicus plot that connects an obscure piece of machinery with connections to the warp.

This power source is used tofuel a psychic scourge that helps them in fighting off the orksand the forces of chaos, who also assault the planet with ideas of how to use the power source for their own needs.

At the end of the first game, the question ofTitus' faith is brought into question by Leandros and members of the inquisition.

This is in part due toTitus' dealings with the warp, something that is well-known to corrupt marines and humans alike.

Why Was He In The Deathwatch?

It is revealed at the beginning of Space Marine 2 that, since then,Titus has been demoted and given a rank in the Deathwatch(a group of elite alien hunters).

He is to serve thereas a form of penitence until it is proven that he has no signs of corruption, or he dies in the Emperor’s service.

What Happened In Space Marine 2?

The Deathwatch takes Titus to the planet Kadakuof the Recidious system.They are sent tostifle the tyranid invasion that is currently underway.

Instead,Titus' squad is killed, and he is left critically woundedafter sending a virus into the atmosphere to slow the tyranids down.

Titus is brought back to life and given the surgery toturn him into a primaris space marine. He once again joined the Ultramarines, under the close watch of his superiors, as the rank of Lieutenant.

He waspivotal in saving the Recidious systemfrom notonly the tyranids, but also the chaos forces that once again found a connection to the warp in the experiments of the Mechanicus on the planet.

Where Does He Go Now?

Titus' actions haveearned him the rank of Captain once again and allowed him to join Calgarin a new mission that may even bring himshoulder to shoulder with Guilliman.

However, his chaplain, none other than Leandros, isstill uncertain of his allegiances. Regardless, war against the foes of the Imperium will surely be where Titus ends up.
