As you explore the world with Zelda and Tri inThe Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, you’ll encounter all sorts of monsters. From giant creatures that can trample you to small zols that will only be an annoyance, there’s a lot to handle across Hyrule and the neighboring regions.
The Gerudo Desert is known for the unforgiving sands and sweltering heat, but the most dangerous feature is the wild sandstorms caused by the Lanmolas. You can defeat these monsters and stop the sandstorms, allowing you to cross the desert in peace. Here’s where to find them and how to defeat them!
Where To Find The Lanmola
You may stumble into a dizzying sandstorm while traversing the Gerudo Desert. These storms are caused by a large centipede monster known as the Lanmola.
There are actually three in the desert, but only two are available at the start of the game.
You’ll need to defeat them, but they have armor that can’t be broken. Additionally, each one will turn the sand around them into quicksand, making it hard to summon echoes and stand for long periods of time. Thankfully, there’s a surefire way to defeat them all.
We’ve broken up each Lanmola location with strategies to help you defeat them!
Be sure to buy the Gerudo Sandals in Gerudo Town for 400 rupees so that you’re able to stand on the quicksand.
The Western Lanmola
East of Gerudo town, towards the center of the desert, you’ll notice a sandstorm brewing. Head into the thick of it, northbound, until you finda small spout of sandemerging from the ground.
As you get close, it will erupt and thesurrounding area quickly transformsinto quicksand. Agiant red centipedebursts forth, and the battle begins.
There are some small plots of sand you may stand on so you don’t sink!
You’ll need tobind Tri to the centipede’s tailand pull hard. This willflip the centipede overyou can can attack its underbelly. Switch into swordfighter form and unleash your fury!
Watch out for the rocks the Lanmola launches, as they’ll do a good deal of damage to you.
Rinse and repeatuntil the centipede is defeated. It will break apart piece by piece and leavea large sum of rupeesbehind.
The Eastern Lanmola
In theeastern part of the Gerudo Desert, closer to the Hyrule Fields, you’llfind another sandstormwreaking havoc. Head into it to face off against agiant green centipede.
There will besmaller monsters all aroundyou, so be careful!
The strategy is the same, butthere are less safe spotsfor you to stand on. You’ll need tokeep moving to avoid sinkinginto the sands. Bind Tri to the centipede’s tail and pull, turning the creature over and exposing its weak points.
Use your sword and echoes tobreak down this buginto little pieces. Once it’s defeated, it will leave behind a sum ofrupees and a couple monster stones.
The Final Lanmola
The final Lanmola onlyappears after the other two are defeated. You’ll also need toclose theHyrule Castle riftbefore the quest becomes available.Head to the barracks west of the Gerudo Palaceto speak with the guards. They’ll alert you to another Lanmola.
This one isnear the eastern Lanmola’s location. Head there to face off against this fearsome foe.
This time, there areno safe sandy spotsfor you to take a break, and there areeven more monstersto slow you down.
Thankfully, the strategy is the same. Use your best flying echoes, like the crow or the Peahat, to handle the small monsters while youlatch onto the tailof the massive blue centipede.
Unleash everything you have in swordfighter form once the bug is overturned. Keep this up until iterupts into rupees and a heart fragment. After your victory, return to the guards at the barracksto report your success.
They’re shocked, but accept your triumph. Facette willreward you with a golden sashthat prevents you from being blown around. Not a bad reward for your efforts!
