Summary
The ramp-up toXbox’s firstCall Of Dutylaunch is really underway with just nine days to go until the release ofBlack Ops 6. The first CoD launch since Xbox acquiredActivision Blizzard, it turns out there’s more to mark the occasion than Black Ops 6 arriving onGame Passday one. Xbox has also unveiled a range of Black Ops 6 accessories, including what is only the second-ever Series X console wrap-themed after one of its studio’s games.
There was a time when multiple versions of a console themed after various games would be released during any given generation, butPlayStationand Xbox have seemingly taken a different approach this gen.Xbox released a Starfield wrapto go around the Series X for anyone who wanted to give their console a makeover last year but, until now, that has been the only game to receive that particular Xbox accessory.
The Black Ops 6’s wrap design features the game’s three-headed wolf logo and has been made to look like it’s covered in torn-up documents, in keeping with the new Call Of Duty campaign’s espionage theme. The Series X wraps are made using solid panels and kind of fold around your console and click into place with gaps so you can still reach the buttons, provided you have applied the skin correctly.
Xbox Reveals Its First Game-Themed Wrap Since Starfield
Pre-orders for the wrap are already open. It’s $54.99 and yes, it will be with you in time for Black Ops 6. The wrap is scheduled to ship on October 23 with the new CoD game releasing two days later. Xbox has also revealed two new Call Of Duty controllers, an Elite model and a regular one, but ordering those is a little more complex and expensive than the wrap.
Rather than release Black Ops 6 controllers, Xbox has added options inspired by the game to Design Lab.Similar to the Fallout shellthat was added to Design Lab earlier this year, there’s now a Black Ops 6 option available.Selecting it for a regular controller costs $14.99, bringing the price up from $69.99 to $84.98.The CoD case for the Elite controller is also $14.99, but since the regular version of the higher-end Xbox controller is $149.99, the Black Ops 6 version starts from $164.98, getting more expensive depending on the other options you select.
Xbox Series X Console Wrap - Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6
Xbox’s Black Ops 6 console wrap is effectively a coat for your Series X. Made up of a series of solid connected panels, the Call Of Duty accessory literally wraps around your console to give it a makeover.
Black Ops 6 getting its own Xbox merch is good news, but a quiet change made to Game Pass this week is not. Xbox appears to haveremoved the option to try out Game Pass for 14 days for $1. Removing the option a little more than a week ahead of Black Ops 6’s release makes it seem as if Xbox has made the change to stop people using the trial to play the new Call of Duty game.
