Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Is Coming To Switch On June 27, 2025
On top of the visual improvements - and being able to play Xenoblade Chronicles X on a console not collecting dust in the corner of your room - the Definitive Edition boasts “newly added story elements and more”. We’ll have to wait and see what that ends up looking like, but it seems like there’s a little more here than just a port with improved graphics.
Xenoblade Chronicles X launched on the Wii U in 2015. It followed on from the original Xenoblade Chronicles game on Wii, which launched in 2010. With the following instalment, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, launching on the Switch, it left Xenoblade Chronicles X as the only game in the series stuck on the ill-fated Wii U. Now, Nintendo is continuing what it has done throughout the Switch’s lifecycle, and is saving yet another game from the platform.
Given its release date, it’s also possible that this port will appear on the successor to the Nintendo Switch, often referred to as the Switch 2. This isrumoured to be announced very soonand isexpected to launch in the first half of 2025, so coinciding with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition quite nicely.
