Holy Horror Mansion Teaser Trailer Reveals New Setting And RPG From Level 5

The trailer is most focussed on cinematics, as we’re introduced to the main character, Ten Lordland. Here, we’re shown around the setting and shown some new creatures.

We also get a look at some gameplay, including a very brief example of combat. The game is described as a “Ghost Craft” RPG, although we don’t actually know when or how it will be launching. Since the platforms aren’t being revealed, it’s suspected that it will be available on the successor to theNintendo Switch, given that Yo-kai Watch games have traditionally launched onNintendoplatforms. It’s unclear if this means a release on the original Switch has been ruled out.

Here’s the synopsis for Holy Horror Mansion, as per itsofficial website:

The young hero, who lives in a mansion atop the apartment building owned by his grandma, finds a camera in a locked room, encounters a ghost and gets caught up in all kinds of turmoil!

As for the release date, the only hint we get is that it’s “coming soon”. However, it’s then added: “Uhm, maybe not THAT soon… just wait a little, okay?” So, let’s not expect a release date reveal anytime soon.

The Yo-kai Watch series kicked off in 2013 with the release of the first game on the 3DS. Since then, it’s spawned numerous sequels and spin-off games, as well as various manga and television adaptations. While the reveal of Holy Horror Mansion certainly doesn’t mean that Yo-kai Watch has come to an end, it does signal a new era for developer Level 5, as it explores a new series, albeit one with heavy similarities to Yo-kai.
