Summary
We’ve known for months that Konami has aYu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collectionin the works, but concrete information on it has been hard to come by. This week the studio finally gave the collection a release date - July 12, 2025 - and now it has also been confirmed that physical copies of theNintendo Switchversion of the game will come with a Quarter Century Secret Rare bonus card.
European and US copies of the Early Days Collection will include one of two bonus cards - QCSR versions of either Harpie’s Feather Duster or the alternative art version of Harpie’s Feather Duster. While the QCSR versions of the cards have been printed in Japan, this will mark the first time that these versions have been available in English. Different cards will be included with the Japanese version of the game.
The hardest information to get out of Konami regarding the collection is which games from Yu-Gi-Oh’s first few years will be a part of it, which is arguably the most important information of all. For quite a while, the collection was only confirmed to include two games- Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2. The release of the former as part of the collection marks the first time the game will officially be available to play outside of Japan.
The Early Days Collection Will Include At Least Eight Games From Yu-Gi-Oh’s Past
We’re Slowly Finding Out What We’re Actually Going To Get From This Game
Konami confirmed three more games for the collectionin September, and then brought the total up to eight this week when it confirmed the February 27 release date. That’s eight games so far and Konami isn’t done yet. You’d think with only four months to go and the cover art out there for us all to take a good look at we would now know everything that will be a part of the Early Days Collection, but apparently not.
Even though it won’t be released until the year is over, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is part of the series' 25th anniversary celebrations.A Dueling Heroes tin created to mark the occasionis still available if you’re looking for a way to celebrate before the year is out, andkeycaps modeled after chibi versions of Dark Magician Girls and Blue Eyes Dragonare also available now. They weren’t released to celebrate Yu-Gi-Oh’s birthday per se, but they’ve still proven pretty popular.
