Summary

Zenless Zone Zerois cutting down the amount of time players are spending on a puzzle mini-game familiar to players, nicknamed ‘TV Mode’ because of its use of screens.

In a Zenless Zone Zerodevelopment diary, developer Y and his guest Heitongguge, a content creator, go back and forth on the changes coming to miHoYo’s RPG in the 1.2 update on September 25 and beyond (thanks,GamesRadar+).

When the subject turned to the negativity surrounding TV mode, Y revealed the team’s plans for addressing the concerns of the community. “To be honest, we all think that TV mode had many issues at release,” Y said.

He goes on to say that miHoYo solicited feedback directly from players, and nailed down some of the biggest problems with the mini-game: It’s too time-consuming, the animations are slow, you have to play the mini-game too often which has the added effect of reducing the amount of time you spend in combat.

TV Mode Just Takes Too Much Time

TV Mode has proven to be such a bugbear that miHoYo is moving away from the mode completely in upcoming updates. “As for the subsequent storyline experiences, we probably won’t use the TV mode,” Y said. He concedes that they may not let go of the mode completely, but will iterate and improve upon aspects that received praise.

Zenless Zone Zero is one of the games within the Hoyoverse, a group of RPGs created by developer miHoYo. The other games in the Hoyoverse are Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

Y estimates that TV Mode will have to be a fixture of Zenless Zone Zero until version 1.4, which is estimated to be released in mid-December.
